‘‘A few years ago, I was invited by Liliana Dirks Goodman of AUNTS to join the feminist art book club that she and a bunch of mostly dancers choreographers and artists had going. It’s casual, maybe every other month, we rotate apartments, we talk, yes, but we ALWAYS talk about the book. It’s been a great part of my life, this feminist book club. We’ve read Mira Schor, Lucy Lippard, bell hooks, an anthology of conceptual poetry by women, and I Love Dick always gets floated around, but everyone’s already read it, or doesn’t feel like it, or it seems like we should do it in bar and get really drunk….it’s a controversial book, one that I read when it came out and adored. I couldn’t believe she could get away with that, I thought, with writing that. I’ve seen younger women reading it- 10 years ago, 5 years ago, it was reissued 2 years ago, it’s being made into a TV show now.
